The Annual #SilentWalkAndRun is proudly hosted by the Neema Foundation for the Deaf, in partnership with Gauteng Department of Sports, Arts, Culture & Recreation, City of Johannesburg, Safer South Africa Foundation amongst other, corporate, and community partners committed to advancing disability inclusion and equal opportunities for all.
The Annual #SilentWalkAndRun aims to:
Every step taken helps create a more inclusive South Africa where everyone can be heard, valued, and empowered.
The event is held annually during Deaf Awareness Month in September, a global movement that celebrates Deaf culture, promotes sign languages, and advances the rights of Deaf people around the world.
The 2026 international theme, “Shine a Blue Light on Sign Languages,” encourages individuals, organisations, and communities to stand together in promoting sign language as a fundamental human right.
Whether you walk, run, volunteer, sponsor, donate, or cheer from the sidelines, your participation helps build a more inclusive society.
Together, we can amplify Deaf voices, promote equality, and create lasting change.
Be part of the movement. Celebrate 10 Years of Impact.
